About Us
Our story in America begins in 1848 Trond and Christence Lindevig traveled from their home in Norway to Coon Valley Wisconsin. Trond and Christence had ten children, seven of whom married, had children, and formed the main branches of the family tree that serves as the core of our modern day family.
Thanks to the strength of that foundation, there are thousands of us across the country – and across the world.
Prior to 2018, the last major gatherings of our family were held over 60 years ago, in the mid-1950’s. At that time, Coon Valley had no suitable gathering spots for large numbers of people, so the reunions were held in Myrick Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Since that time, the Norskedalen (Norwegian Valley) heritage site has been created in Coon Valley and we are now able to comfortably assemble our family in the very community our family knew as “Home”.
In a renaissance of our tradition of gathering as a family, in 2018, hundreds of the family united at Norskedalen to celebrate the 170th Anniversary of the 1848 coming to America of our Great-Great Grand parents – Trond and Christence Lindevig. You may have been one of the many who attended that gathering. At that conclusion of that fabulous weekend, we voted as a family to hold a reunion in 2022 to celebrate Trond’s 200th birthday.
Please join all of us the weekend of August 12-14th, 2022, along with hundreds of your family, to enjoy the continuing legacy of the Lindevigs in America – The Family Tree that has Flourished.
